[Evolution-users] "Go to the previous message after message deletion" preference not honored

New to list posting so please correct any etiquette gaffs!

Evolution 3.52.3-0ubuntu1.1 running under Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS (6.8.0-60-
generic), Gnome 46.

I have the "Go to the previous message after message deletion"
preference unchecked, yet when I have a mail message open and click the
delete icon the message is deleted and the previous message opens.
 This happens regardless of folder or account type (EWS and IMAP both
exhibit this behavior).

gsettings shows org.gnome.evolution.mail delete-selects-previous is
false.

Am I missing a setting or is this a bug?
