[Evolution-users] "Go to the previous message after message deletion" preference not honored

I have installed Evolution 3.58.3 from Flathub. Thank you for
initiating my education on Ubuntu LTS package maintenance.
To answer other questions:
1) Message list not threaded/grouped
2) Message list sorted by Date, latest first
3) I have an email open. That is, I've double clicked an email in the
main Evolution window.
4) If the opened email is in the middle of the list and "Go to the
previous message after message deletion" is not checked then the window
remains open and the next oldest email is displayed. If the option is
checked then the next newest email is displayed. So you are correct
that this is a bimodal option and controls whether the newer or older
email is opened.
The behavior that I want is that the window that's displaying the email
is closed upon delete. Since I don't use a threaded display, generally
emails adjacent to each other in the list are not related. So after
deleting I just want to go back to the list window.
