In Both cases the email is open.
If I move my cursor over to the display showing all emails in the
folder and select that email and using the right click delete it.
The other case I use the trash symbol in the top bar of the email
itself. "Mark the selected message for deletion".
They behave differently.
Yes I agree they should be the same and it does behave as you indicate.
