Thank you very much for your answers, i.e. the procedure for the GUI and the script-code to tackle the problem - and sorry for my delayed reply.
Just to explain, "easier" in this case means essentially that as little as possible steps have to be carried out by the user, to "keep the costs" for the change from Windows- to Linux-clients as low as possible.
