While reading messages from sbcglobal.net, yahoo.com under the covers,
now owned by att.com, in Evolution 3.56.2-0+deb13u1 on
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
Kernel Version: 6.12.74+deb13+1-amd64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
messages disappear from "table of contents," not only in my inbox, but
also in my "sent" box. This is especially irritating if the one I'm
reading, or moving to the archive on my computer, is one that
disappears. Sometimes ones that appear to have been successfully
deleted or moved to my private archive reappear. I'm just guessing but
my conjecture is that there's a race condition between threads that
ought to be protected by a critical section or monitor procedure or
semaphores. Yeah, I know the ones of these that don't cause "deadly
embrace" are notoriously difficult to find.
And another thing…. It occasionally gets stuck, not entirely stuck and
completely unable to do anything, which was repaired in the 3.56.2-
0+deb13u1 revision, but not able to refresh any account. If I work too
fast, the one-line pane at the bottom fills with "refreshing" and
"storing" and "loading" actions. I don't need to kill Evolution to get
it back; canceling some of the actions, usually the "storing" ones,
recovers its attention. I suspect this is another inter-thread
unprotected race condition — maybe the same one.
