The tutorial you should be using is this one [1]. The passwords should all
be 'vagrant' now. This tutorial at least gives you an idea of how Ganeti
works via the command line.

I would run all the actions on the virtual nodes to ensure it works
properly. That environment is intended to act as a reproducible environment
that should work every time.

According to me, one thing peculiar (or rather recursive) about the ganeti

This environment is only intended as a way to try out ganeti and help with
ganeti development. Its by no means a normal production environment.
Normally Ganeti runs on physical machines but that's difficult to do for
development, especially for GSoC. So the vagrant environment at least tries
to mimic most of what you need for Ganeti cluster without the need of a lot
of physical hardware. I don't expect the VMs you deploy inside of the
environment to run very fast or be working correctly.

No problem! I apologize for not having this explained in more detail on
the ideas page or elsewhere. Understanding Ganeti initially can be
daunting.
