yes, increasing the mtu from the default 1500bytes to 9000bytes
'fixes' the problem, while keeping the tso enabled.

With the current 4.16-rc7 I see this new message:

e1000e 0000:00:19.0: Some CPU C-states have been disabled in order to enable jumbo frames

4.15 did not print this message.
