The NET group at OSU has had some lengthy discussion on having the capability of easily sending email to a contact person or group for a specific zone.  Any admin of a zone could define the contact address.  It would be desireable to not allow any zone updates unless a contact address is defined.  This would encourage the population of the contact addresses.  It would also be desireable to be able to send email to zone.nws at maintain.orst.edu which would be forwarded to the contact address of zone.nws.

The primary use of this feature will help us do follow-ups on security and abuse reporting where the IP address is known.   We have started developing a utility to farm out a MAC address and its home zone(s) from a given IP address and date/time.
The IP address may be a NAT/PAT address that will require yet another level of farming  or mapping to get to the responsible person or group.  

This utility and having a contact address will speed up the process and eliminate some of the human errors we have experienced in the past.

I see that Karl Vollmer requested (10/Feb/04) a similar feature.
