    Resolution: Won't Fix

I am sorry but we won't fix that. Zones are such a vital part of maintain that it is neither intended nor easily possible to simply "override them".

> When creating a new host, it is a big pain to have to go and fill out half or most of the information, get to the range the host is supposed to go into, and realize that you're working in the wrong zone, change over, and have to fill out all the information again. It would be especially useful if you could change zones during host creation and have the fields stay filled in.
> I can see this working out in a few different ways to get the kind of functionality I'm talking about:
> 1) On the create new host page there is an additional drop down for what zone you want to create it in (which is the user's current working zone by default). Changing this would repopulate the range drop down with the appropriate ip ranges via javascript to prevent someone from trying to add something to a range that didn't exsist in a zone file. The downside to this is that on loading the page it would have to query all zones and all ranges that the user had access to to add a host in order to do it, and javascript would have to be enabled on the client side to get it to properly work the ip range dropdown.
> 2) On the create new host page, if you change zones with the drop down in the upper left, it takes you back to the create new host page (insead of the maintain "home" page), and passes all the previously filled in fields, with the exception of the ip range (which would no longer apply).
