I answer on the mailing list since other people could react on this topic.

The produced file will be placed in the current directory.

To restore it, you could use

adb push backup_mmcblk0_i9100.img /dev/block/mmcblk0

However, you should avoid writing EFS (see the exact partition on the dedicated webpage) since it contains IMEI and MAC address.
I heard it is possible to get it back even if EFS was erased but I don't know how to do this.

To do this, you could also backup specifically each partition, i.e. /dev/block/mmcblk0pX where X take every value of partition needed to be backuped (probably depends on the device)
