Yes indeed, I should have looked into it more in details.

The Galaxy Nexus lack touch keys, and has them implemented in software.

Yes, it would be better to keep the touchkeys if possible.
I'll try to look if upstream Linux has support for touchkeys when I get
back online. In that case we could also remove that temporarily and
restore it in Replicant 9.0.
