Hello Replicants,
I've just joined the list out of interest in figuring out what steps
are involved in porting from Cyanogenmod to Replicant 2.3. I have a
Samsung Galaxy S phone and I had it running Cyanogenmod 7.1 quite
successfully, so I'm wondering what steps are involved in creating a
Replicant Port for it.
What are the differences between Cyanongenmod and Replicant ?
I'm guessing that one thing is the stripping out of as many proprietary
bits as feasible and the introduction of the F-Droids market. Are there
any other differences and/or feature differences to Replicant vs.
Cyanogenmod ?
I am somewhat interested in helping port to the Galaxy S to Replicant. I
have a GT-1897 that's been modded to be unbrickable. I have followed the
XDA developers forum for the Samsung Captivate and have some basic
Android experience.
What are the steps in terms of building replicant and porting it to this
phone and is this documented anywhere ?
I read the archives and saw a few other people asking questions
regarding Samsung and Galaxy S and I think that the philosophy of as
much free software as possible is a healthy ideal to strive for. Not
sure if I have the time to invest in the full process but if someone can
illuminate some of the steps involved I'll see if it is feasible.
Thanks,
Robbt
