Hi,
Paul Kocialkowski(the main replicant developer) forwarded me(I'm the
second developer of Replicant) your mail, I've also CCed the mailing
list since it can interest more than one person.
>Hi,
>my uncle gave me a Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0 for Christmas.
>I'd like to install replicant on it, but I did not understand if it is
>possible or not
It will be possible very soon, I ordered a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" from the
local supermarket some time ago(I think the 11th December), but it takes
quite some time to arrive(more than expected, and it's not arrived
yet).
I'll start porting Replicant to it as soon as it arrives, at first
I'll try to make Graphics work, then sound should work easily
since there is some free software library for that, the sensor library
is non-free and must be looked at.
>(do I have to follow another installation procedure?).
when it'll be ready you'll have to follow an installation procedure.
If you can't wait for Replicant, I suggest to install Cyanogenmod
without the non-free google applications, and then install
FDroid(which replaces the Android market/google play) instead of
google play.
If you don't want to follow any installation procudure for cyanogenmod
or Replicant, you can still install FDroid (http://f-droid.org/) very
easily:
just download it from your device, and click on the
download: it'll try to install it and will probably fail and point you
to the settings for enabling third party applications. Then enable
third party applications and retry to install FDroid(if it disapeared
try re-downloading it, and re-clicking on the download, it's easier)
Then it won't fail this time, and install itself.
Fdroid contains only Free software(free means free as in freedom).
Denis.
