I'm aware of the Ascend P1/D1 and they could make reasonable targets for
Replicant. The OMAP4 can run sufficiently well with a fully free system.
However, these two models ship with OMAP4 HS chips, that enforce
signature checks on the bootloaders, which doesn't allow us to use free
software bootloaders on those devices.
We cannot demonstrate that the modem is isolated, but we can look for
clues that it is not. Then only we can say that the device was not
proven to have bad modem isolation, which is as good as it can get.
There is a page on our wiki for evaluating new targets:
http://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/TargetsEvaluation
In addition, a dedicated section in our forums allows for gathering
information about new targets evaluation. You're welcome to start doing
that evaluation and start gathering info about this device.
A Replicant port looks doable, so you're welcome to start getting
involved on that regard!
