Yes, schematics are only available as non-editable PDF.
This is at least as good as for commercial Android devices where schematics can be found in service manuals.
But GTA04 can be perfectly operated without any non-free blobs (except WLAN and 3D-GPU).

The valuation depends on which level of “openness” and “freedom” people want for software and hardware.
This might even differ between individuals.
