Replicant on phone without modem

Mike Perry from the TOR project put together a configuration of several 
secure services on a 2013 Nexus 7 tablet without modem. A very robust 
solution to overcome bad modem isolation.

The only reason he did not try it with Replicant was that Replicant does 
not run on any hardware without modem.

Now, would it be possible to disable the modem (maybe with a solder 
iron) on one of the Replicant Samsung devices? And maybe attach one via 
USB?
