There is some source code out there for Mediatek (not of all of which is
clearly free software), but it's currently so ugly that nobody is
willing to work on it. It's a bit unclear what the exact freedom status
is for these devices (feel free to do some research on that and let the
community know), but they often come with the modem bundled with the
SoC, which is a no-go for privacy and security.
