[Replicant] Replicant for North American versions of Galaxy S2 and S3

I'm curious, has anyone ever evaluated whether or not any of the North
American Galaxy S2 or S3 phones can be easily ported to Replicant? I
thought that I read in the forums somewhere that this might be an easy
task, but that the cell phone modem wouldn't work, which I really
wouldn't mind not having.

International versions of phones are decently hard to find in North
America. It'd be great to be able to liberate phones that are more
easily accessible, even if they are wifi only phones.
