To add a little to what Denis already wrote: Make sure you have a
USB-to-UART converter that has a separate VCC pin and don't connect
it. Unfortunately, I don't really remember what resistor level I used at
the end to make it work with i9300 and I regret not documenting it. You
could try 619k and 523k. AFAIR I had the best results with one of
those.
We already discussed the configs some time ago on irc. They appear to be
a little different to i9300 because i9305 has a different modem and the
driver tries to set the serial path to the modem. But in any case, if
you had a working serial setup, you would be able to send AT commands
to the modem.
If you or somebody else manages to have a working serial setup for any
of the newer Samsung devices Replicant supports (e.g. S2 and S3), please
don't hesitate documenting it in the wiki! It doesn't have to be
perfect. Only a few notes can already save others a lot of time. I only
managed to tidy up the pages related to serial setup and that was
already quite some time after I worked a little on mainline and thus
with a working serial setup.
Cheers,
Wolfgang
