I'd say yes, especially as over time users are more likely to clear their 
pacman cache and lose that workaround. Android Tools on Parabola has had 
another update since, 8r17, but adb does not work with that version either.

The other workaround I've seen mentioned is compiling android-tools-git from 
AUR. I just tried it and adb works.
